Disability Info Support Hub (DISH)
The concept of Disability Info Support Hubs (DISH) aims to empower and educate people with disability and their families so that over time they become confident to be in control of their own lives, and in turn teach them to then go on and empower others. It is through lack of information, education, status and confidence that these people are often dis-empowered. The DISH concept aims to ensure people with a disability and/or their family members are empowered and informed, who ideally then become the most powerful stakeholders in their lives, which they should be. It is believed that for real change to occur in the disability area greater education, resources and responsibility needs to be given to âfamily drivenâ groups in local regions who will create the change that is required. It is believed that the long-term answer to an inclusive, empowered life for people with disabilities lies in the education and empowerment of individuals and families with a disability.
